Privacy Policy: Just Scan
Core Guarantee: 100% On-Device & Zero Telemetry
Just Scan is built with a strict offline-first philosophy. Your documents, photos, scanned pages, and extracted text never leave your phone.
1. Zero Data Collection & Zero Tracking
No Analytics / No Trackers: We do not collect, store, or transmit any personal data, usage metrics, crash reports, or device identifiers.
No Advertising: The app contains no third-party ads or marketing SDKs.
No Accounts Required: You do not need to sign in or create an account to use any feature of the app.
2. Camera & Optical Capture
Camera permissions are used strictly for document scanning via the on-device Google Play Services Document Scanner API.
Raw camera feeds are processed in temporary local memory, are never saved to unencrypted public storage, and are never shared with external servers.
3. On-Device Optical Character Recognition (OCR)
Text recognition is powered entirely by Google ML Kit running locally on your device’s processor.
The app may download localized language packets via Google Play Services to execute offline processing. Scanned words, text blocks, and PDF search metadata remain 100% on your device.
4. Biometric Security & Locked Folders
Fingerprint and Face Unlock use Android’s official hardware-backed Keystore system (androidx.biometric).
Just Scan never sees, captures, stores, or transmits your biometric credentials.
5. Scoped Local Storage
All created PDFs are stored securely inside your device's sandboxed, private app Documents directory using Android Scoped Storage.
Files remain safely on your device until you explicitly choose to export, share, or delete them.
6. Third-Party Sharing Documents
Files only leave your phone when you explicitly press the Share button to send them via the standard Android system share sheet (e.g., emailing yourself, saving to Google Drive, or messaging a contact).
Once shared, the data is subject to the privacy policies of the destination application chosen by the user.
